the truth about Ab Sonic

Submitted by Loss Weight diet Consultant on January 18, 2010 – 12:10 am3 Comments

An electronic muscle stimulator for rock-hard muscles.

Abs Sonic is a fitness device that has been touted on late-night informercials as a way to get sexier and firmer abs.

Abs Sonic is like other electronic muscle stimulator (EMS) devices that work by transmitting an electric current onto the muscle and facilitating the contraction and release response. It is this action that is believed to increase strength and enhance the tone and firmness of the muscle.

Even though the FDA has approved the use of certain EMS devices for consumer use, they do not support the marketing claims that these devices can live up to their cosmetic and aesthetic claims. In addition, the regulatory agency has received several reports that certain EMS devices can cause injury, particularly those that are not FDA-approved.

The Ab Sonic is not approved by the FDA. The product claims to sculpt, firm and tone your muscles easily and quickly. The padded belt can be worn around the waist, arms, thighs, legs or calves. It can be used by both men and women.

PRO

  • Can be worn anywhere
  • Can be worn on a variety of muscle groups

CON

  • Not approved by the FDA
  • Promised results cannot be verified
  • May cause skin irritation, burns or chafing
  • Cannot take the place of a regular abdominal workout
  • Criticized for not being a durable product and a scam product

DIET and NUTRITION

There is no specific accompanying diet with the Abs Sonic other than to follow a healthy diet for optimal results.

EXERCISE

The Ab Sonic is a wearable belt that features a padded gel that is affixed with electronic pack.

Here’s how the Ab Sonic works: You place a liquid-based gel on your skin, adjust the belt so it feels secure and then turn it on.

You can wear the Ab Sonic anytime and anywhere, whether you’re walking your dog or working on your computer. It should be worn directly on the skin and under clothing.

The electrical currents send waves directly to your muscles causing them to contract and release. Over time, this action is supposed to stimulate muscle strength and lead to firmer and tighter muscles.

While it is designed for the abdominal muscles, it can also be worn around the thighs, calves, arms or legs.

CONCLUSION

The Ab Sonic is an electrical muscle stimulator fitness device that is intended to create sexier, firmer and more toned muscles. While some electrical muscle stimulators have been approved by the FDA for consumer use, the Ab Sonic is not one of them. Therefore if you decide to use this product, do so with caution and with the awareness that the device may not live up to its claims.

  • Maaan! I really don’t trust any machine that says you can lose inches or gain muscles by not sweating and working out. It’s all bogus. You need to move that body to achieve long lasting results!
