The idea is to eat half a grapefruit, or drink a glass of grapefruit juice, with each meal.
This diet is only recommended for those who can live without complex carbs and sweets. The grapefruit diet is pretty low in carbs, like the Atkins diet, but it is not as strict – a little deviation is OK!
This is one diet that did a great valve to its time and still is successful, one of Hollywood’s beautiful.
One of its versions consists of a so-called diet, grapefruit, less protein and … about it! Everything is based on the controversial opinion that some foods (grapefrutul, cabbage, etc.) have properties of “burning” of fat …
Breakfast
Half Grapefruit & Coffee
Lunch
Half grapefruit, 1 egg, some salad, a slice of toast & tea or coffee (without milk or sugar)
Dinner
Half grapefruit, 2 eggs, green salad with tomatoes & tea or coffee (without milk or sugar)
Advantages is that grapefruit has fat and is low in calories and rich in vitamin C. It contains red grapefruit, too, and beta-carotene. With a large deficit of iron, calcium and vitamins, this “diet” is monotonous and far from a rational way of eating. Also, calorie intake is very low.
